The atmosphere here is so welcoming—it feels like a community of pilots rather than just a school.
Best flight school in the area, hands down.
Overall, I’d give my experience a solid 8/10. It was challenging, often expensive, but ultimately rewarding. The instructors were a mixed bag. My primary CFI, Captain Miller, was phenomenal—patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and never made me feel stupid for botching a radio call or a steep turn. However, I heard stories from other students about instructors who were clearly burned out or just counting hours to the airlines, which showed in their teaching. The atmosphere was intense but supportive. Everyone is sleep-deprived and slightly anxious about the next checkride, but there’s a real camaraderie on the flight line. You’re all in it together. The classes were more engaging than I expected, especially the advanced avionics modules on the G1000 NXi trainers. The ground school material is dry but crucial, and they made it as digestible as possible. Living conditions were… basic. I shared a two-bedroom apartment with three other students near the airport. It was affordable (key on a student budget) but noisy from airport traffic and not exactly luxury. The fridge was perpetually full of energy drinks and instant noodles. My overall impression? Skyward prepared me technically and pushed me mentally. You get out what you put in. The days were long—up at 4 AM for the best air, studying after flying, managing costs constantly. It’s not a glamorous pilot factory; it’s hard work. But soloing, then my first cross-country, and finally that checkride pass… those moments were unreal. Just go in with eyes wide open about the grind and the cost. If flying is your passion, they’ll get you there.
So, my experience at Pelican in 2025 has been quite fascinating. I'm completing my commercial rating, and it's an excellent school. Teachers are also exceptional; my CFI, Mike, is simply the best. He's quite safety-conscious and also quite patient when you are struggling on some maneuvers. The atmosphere is very positive; it feels like a real community where students are socializing and studying together. Ground school was difficult, but the instruction is good and explains the information clearly. I lived in local student accommodation. It's very convenient and equipped, but obviously “student standard” – clean enough, although the internet connection can be patchy. The admin side of the process is usually helpful, but some of the paper work is slow. Overall, it’s a great place for you if you’re self-motivated and enjoy flying. This isn’t perfect, but I now feel ready for airline flying.
Best and old flight school ever...best experience I love it...❤️✨
I trained at a flight school in 2024, and honestly the experience was way better than I expected. The instructors were the real highlight for me — patient, funny when they needed to be, but also strict about safety and procedures. You can tell they’ve got years of flying behind them. The atmosphere around the school felt friendly and relaxed, even though the classes themselves could get intense, especially the navigation and radio comms sessions. The accommodation wasn’t luxurious, but it was clean and quiet enough to study after long days. I liked that everyone there, from students to staff, actually cared about improving. By the time I finished, I felt confident in the cockpit and genuinely grateful for the whole experience. If someone is serious about flying, I’d say this place is worth it.
Finished training here in 2025. Good instructors, organized schedule, and planes always ready to go. Weather made flying almost every day possible. Ground lessons were clear, no wasted time. Had one delay with paperwork, but it got fixed fast. Overall, good place to learn and get your hours done.Yeah, I’d recommend it to friends.
Got my CPL at Pelican in 2024 as an international student. Instructors Adrian and Anna were great. School helped with TSA and visa. Planes in good shape. Now flying right seat at a regional airline.
I completed an eight-month training program at Pelican Flight Training and was very satisfied. From day one, it was clear they take the process seriously: the theoretical part is well-structured, and the practical training allows you to solidify your knowledge in the air. The instructors are calm, patient, and genuinely invested in students' progress — with this approach, you gain confidence even during your first flights. The post-flight briefings were especially helpful — no vague feedback, just clear and specific insights. The aircraft fleet is well-maintained, and technical delays were rare, though a couple of flights were postponed due to safety checks. In fact, that’s a plus — it shows that safety comes first. If I had to note a downside, it would be the tight schedule — getting a slot on the simulator closer to exam time sometimes required waiting. But overall, these are minor things that don’t hinder your learning. If you're looking for a school that approaches training professionally while creating a comfortable learning environment, Pelican is definitely worth considering. Andrei.
Forty years of excellence isn’t just a slogan—it’s palpable at Pelican. From my first solo to mastering multi-engine ops, every milestone felt celebrated. The school’s ethos mirrors aviation itself: disciplined yet exhilarating. Special shoutout to Anna, who navigated my visa hurdles with grace. If you’re ready to trade doubt for determination, this is your cockpit.
Embarking on my aviation journey with Pelican Flight Training was the best decision I've ever made. From day one, the school's commitment to excellence was evident. The instructors are not only highly experienced but also incredibly supportive, ensuring that each lesson is both informative and confidence-building. The training program is meticulously structured, guiding students seamlessly from private pilot certification to commercial ratings. The fleet of well-maintained aircraft and state-of-the-art simulators provided a hands-on learning experience that was both challenging and rewarding. What truly sets Pelican apart is its welcoming community. As an international student, I was apprehensive about adapting to a new environment. However, the staff went above and beyond to assist with visa processes and acclimating to life in Florida. Their dedication made me feel at home and allowed me to focus entirely on my training. Today, I proudly hold my commercial pilot license and am on the path to becoming a certified flight instructor. Pelican Flight Training didn't just teach me how to fly; they instilled in me the confidence and skills to pursue a successful aviation career. I attended PFT as an international student F-1, and everything was pretty quick and easy. The staff from this school is beyond outstanding. I’m very thankful to Oleksandra and Anna, they’re very clear and extremely helpful at anytime. Instructors are very cool and good, facilities are fine, they provide you with advices and choices to do everything right. Overall very nice environment.
I attended Pelican Flight Training at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, Florida, starting in November 2021, and I also worked at the school afterward as a Flight Instructor. Throughout my training and teaching, the school played a crucial role in helping me achieve my goals. The instructors and the training standards they uphold their students to are very professional. I met fantastic people and learned a lot from the experience as well as my peers. A special mention goes to Sasha, a remarkable member of their team, who, from my experience, is truly concerned and dedicated to improving and upholding customer satisfaction and student progress. As with all other flight schools I've been to, Pelican had its challenges, but the supportive staff and resources provided me with the opportunity to overcome them and achieve my goals. With their help, I was able to accumulate more than 1500 hours of flight experience, meeting the necessary requirements for the airlines. I'm grateful for my time at Pelican Flight Training and the opportunities it provided to build the experience needed for my aviation career. I will always cherish the memories I made at the school and the lifelong friends I met there.
