About
Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a pioneering institution in aviation training, offers undergraduate programs in Avionics, Air Traffic Control, Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance, Aviation Management and Flight Training.
The faculty aims to train qualified pilots, air traffic controllers, airline and airport management staff and aircraft maintenance personnel in accordance with international aviation standards and regulations for air transportation industry. It operates its own international airport with all air traffic control and ground services, SHY-145 approved aircraft maintenance center and fleet of 15 aircraft including King Air C90, Cessna 172 and TB20. For practical trainings, the faculty has state-of-the-art synthetic training devices such as 360-degree aerodrome tower, ACC/APP radar control, and FNPTII and MCC flight simulators.
Besides, students can have hands-on experience in their respective field of study at 28 well-equipped laboratories and workshops. The faculty was first founded as ‘Civil Aviation Vocational School’ in 1986 in order to deliver qualified operational personnel in accordance with international requirements for Turkish Aviation Industry. In 1992, the school started four-year programs leading to B.Sc and B.A degrees and changed its name to ‘Civil Aviation School’.
Finally in 2012, the school was restructured as Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics to provide more qualified academic training meeting with international higher education standards and global aviation industry requirements. Department of Air Traffic Control accepts students through specifically designed aptitude tests while the rest of the programs accept students through the Student Selection Exam.
