About

The International Aviation Academy of New Zealand (IAANZ) is the professional flight training arm of the Canterbury Aero Club which has been operating since 1928. It has built an enviable industry reputation for its purpose-built training facilities, the quality of its training program, the high caliber of its flight instructors and graduate pilots who have not only been trained to airline operational standards but have experience flying within an international airport environment.

The IAANZ is able to offer the student pilot a range of learning environments from Controlled airspace at our base in the International airport or at our own satellite airfield, West Melton, where students are able to fine tune their skills in uncontrolled airspace, only 5 minutes flight time from the International airport. The New Zealand license is well respected around the world for its training standards due to the detailed training syllabus covering terrain awareness and emergency procedures. The major advantage of flight training in the South Island of New Zealand is its geography and metrological conditions. Our specialized 10 hours of mountain training equips student pilots to handle flying in any terrain.
