Peter gained his Commercial Pilot Licence and Instructor Rating in 1981 and after gaining flying experience, was employed by Qantas in 1984 at the age of 20. He was promoted rapidly and at age 27 became the youngest jet Captain (B767) in the history of Qantas.
With over 23 years of airline experience, Peter has held several senior positions over his distinguished career. Most recently, he held the position of Chief Pilot & Head of Training for Jetstar Asia. Previously, Peter was a Senior Check Captain Qantas for Airbus A330 & Boeing B747 Fleet. He has been a Type Rating Examiner and Instructor (Singapore & Australia) on Airbus A320 & A330 aircraft as well as the Boeing B747 aircraft. Currently, Peter also holds Chief Pilot, Chief Flying instructor and CASA Authorised Testing Officer qualifications in Australia and is a qualified Grade 1 Instructor.
Captain David Whyte - General Manager Operations
With over 40 years of airline training and operational experience, Captain David Whyte is qualified on the B707, B747, B744 and Airbus A330 aircraft. David commenced his flying career as a Qantas cadet pilot in the 1960s and progressed through the Qantas ranks obtaining his command on the B747 and then quickly thereafter, appointment as a Senior Check Captain on the B747. In the late-1980s, David moved to Singapore Airlines where he was a B747 Check & Training Captain which included training Singapore Airlines cadet pilots on the B747.
David returned to Australia in the mid-90s, where he continued to expand upon his already considerable qualifications, variously holding positions as a Lecturer in Aviation studies at RMIT and as a CASA Flight Operations Airline Inspector. Of great value to our College, David spent time instructing on both propeller and Citation Jet aircraft whilst developing and enlarging the China Southern Airline Pilot College in Western Australia and in particular, their High Performance jet training section. David subsequently was appointed as General Manager Operations for the whole China Southern Flying College. During this time, David developed the college into a true airline pilot training facility introducing airline training methods and standards. David is Australia’s most experienced and best qualified person to help us expand and develop into a world leader in pilot training.
