In today’s competitive market having the right type certificate can make the difference between getting your dream job or just settling for what you could find. Mauna Loa Helicopters can get you the type certificates you need to move up fast and land the position you’ve always dreamed of.

We offer type certificates in the MD500 or Bell 407. Completion of the course is just one week. Applications must be made one month in advance for scheduling purposes. Certificate awarded upon completion of course. Click "request more information" below to get started!

MD500 - $750/hr of flight time, generally a 5 flight hour course to gain proficiency to the commercial practical test standards.

Bell 407 - $1400/hr of flight time. Also a 5 flight hour course to gain proficiency to the commercial practical test standards.

Ground school is mostly on turbine engine theory and the aircraft systems and flight manual. The ground school is $50/hr and is 10 hr is length.
